Sunday, 8:50 a.m. Your first Zoom starts in ten minutes and the coffee is already made. The difference is that today you are in Eilat, and on your lunch break you can walk to the promenade. Sounds like a fantasy? That is exactly what a good workation should feel like, and you can get it right.

In short: A vacation apartment is a great choice for working remotely from Eilat. It has a kitchenette, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and relative quiet, and you can stay several days without living off restaurants. Check the work setup in the apartment ahead of time, plan your work hours before you arrive, and save the early morning or late afternoon for the sea. Our apartments, behind the Club Hotel, are a 5 to 10 minute walk from the promenade.

Why an apartment and not a hotel room when you work

A hotel room is built for sleeping and swimming pools, not for an eight-hour workday. In an apartment you have a kitchenette with a fridge, a stovetop or hot plate, a kettle and a microwave, so coffee, a light lunch and fruit are always at hand without going down to the lobby.

There is another advantage people think about less: control over your rhythm. No breakfast hour dictates your morning, and you don't need to get dressed just to go buy a sandwich. You wake up, work, and head out when it suits you.

What to check before you book

A workation succeeds or fails on small details. Before booking, it is worth asking about and confirming the following:

  • Where you will work: a table, a counter or a stable surface. The layout is not the same in every apartment, so ask us in advance on the contact page.

  • Number of people: some apartments have a double bed and some have a sofa bed. If you are traveling with a partner who also works, think about who works where.

  • Arrival times: check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. If you want to start working by midday, ask for an early check-in. It depends on availability and carries a fee.

  • Network backup: the apartments include Wi-Fi, but for important calls it is smart to bring a phone hotspot as well.

You can see all the options on our apartments page.

Local tip: On arrival day, before you unpack, open your laptop and test the connection, charging and sound with a short video call. If something doesn't work, it is better to find out at 3:30 PM than at 8:55 the next morning.

A workday in Eilat: a sample plan

The secret is to make the most of the nicest hours of the day. In winter the Eilat sun is pleasant, and early morning and the hour before sunset are the best times to head out. A day could look like this:

  1. 7:00-8:00: A short walk to the promenade or the beach with a coffee in hand. It clears your head better than any meditation app.

  2. 8:30-12:30: First work block, with the meetings and tasks that need focus.

  3. 12:30-2:00 p.m.: Lunch. Make something in the apartment or head to a nearby cafe, and you will find ideas on the food and drink page.

  4. 2:00-5:00 p.m.: Second work block, usually lighter tasks and calls that don't need deep concentration.

  5. 5:00 p.m. onward: Sea, promenade, or just sitting outside. Anyone who finishes early gets a bonus golden hour.

Wi-Fi, calls and noise: staying professional

Don't promise yourself that everything will go smoothly. Schedule important calls for hours when you know you will be in the apartment, not at a restaurant or on the beach.

A few small habits help a lot:

  • Turn on the air conditioning before you start working, so the room is comfortable and not noisy in the middle of a call.

  • Bring headphones with a microphone. They cut background noise and also keep the apartment quiet.

  • Download heavy files and presentations ahead of important calls.

  • Set up a charging spot near your workspace, with an extension cord if needed.

Workation solo, as a couple or with kids

Solo: This is the simplest. An apartment with a kitchenette gives you a routine, and you choose whether to finish at 5:00 PM or head to the sea in the middle of the day.

As a couple: Split the hours. One works in the morning and the other in the afternoon, or you both work in shared blocks and go out together afterward. A little coordination prevents arguments over who gets to take the phone call now.

With kids: Here you need to be realistic. If you are working around small children, plan your hours around naptime or a set screen-time window. If you need a baby crib, you can request one for an additional fee, subject to availability.

Save money: A work week from the apartment saves a lot of meals out. Buy the basics at the supermarket on arrival day and keep the restaurants for evenings.

A weekend that extends the workation

A popular plan is to arrive on Thursday, work Sunday through Wednesday, and head home on Thursday or Friday. That way you get a full weekend without using many vacation days. Also check what is happening in town on the events page, because there may be something worth fitting in.
